I love dill pickle-flavored snacks, and Costco always seems to have plenty to choose from. I’ve enjoyed products like the dill pickle hummus, dill pickle salad kit, spicy dill pickle chips, and dill pickle almonds, so when I spotted the DJ&A Pickle-Licious Pickle Flavored Cucumber Crisps, I couldn’t wait to try them. Unfortunately, they were one of the most disappointing dill pickle snacks I’ve had. Find out why I wouldn’t buy them again by reading the review below.

Location in Store
These are located in the aisle with the croutons and condiments at Costco like the Kirkland Signature Organic Hemp Hearts and the Kirkland Signature Bacon Crumbles. The item number is 1934708.
Taste
The DJ&A Pickle-Licious Pickle Flavored Cucumber Crisps were a huge disappointment. After trying one crisp, I didn’t have any desire to eat another. I expected them to taste like a healthier version of a dill pickle chip, but they were nothing like that. Instead, they’re surprisingly sweet with very little tang or classic dill pickle flavor.

The texture is one thing these cucumber crisps get right. They’re light and satisfyingly crunchy, making them seem like they’d be great on a sandwich, in a salad, or even as a snack on their own if the flavor had been better.

Unfortunately, the overpowering sweetness completely overshadows the pickle seasoning and ruins the overall taste for me. I was hoping these would be a healthy, flavorful alternative to potato chips, but between the lack of dill pickle flavor and the amount of sugar they contain, they completely missed the mark.
Cost
The 200-gram bag costs $9.99 Canadian. After trying these cucumber crisps, I don’t think they’re worth the price. Costco carries several much better dill pickle-flavored snacks that I’d recommend instead.

Convenience
The bag has a best-before date that’s about seven months from when I purchased it and features a resealable closure to help keep the cucumber crisps fresh in the pantry. If I had enjoyed the flavor, I could see these being used to add extra crunch to sandwiches or sprinkled on top of salads and casseroles.

Nutrition
Calories
Although these are made from dried cucumber, they’re not as healthy as you might expect. A 1 2/3-cup serving contains 200 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 37 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, 25 grams of sugar, four grams of protein, and 330 milligrams of sodium. That said, I don’t think I could eat nearly two cups of these in a single sitting.

Ingredients
The ingredients list has sugar as the second ingredient and palm oil as the third, which isn’t ideal. It also helps explain why these taste so salty. The cucumber crisps may contain wheat, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, sesame, egg, fish, shellfish, sulphites, and mustard.

Walk on by!
These are far too sweet for my liking, and I really missed the vinegary, tangy, true dill pickle flavor. I think they would taste much better if they were less sweet.
$9.99 Canadian.
Technically they don’t have these listed as ingredients but there may be cross contamination due to the way they’re produced.
