Costco Reese’s Frozen Fruit Banana Slices Review

Reese’s has various products with the classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate. Now, they’re carrying these frozen banana slices covered in milk chocolate and Reese’s peanut butter chips at Costco. Are these a must-buy for Reese’s lovers? Or are they straying too far from the goodness of the original product?

Other peanut butter products from Costco are the Hoody’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Mix, Dunn’s Dill Pickle Flavoured Peanuts, Kirkland Signature Peanut Butter Pretzels, Kirkland Signature Peanut Butter Cups, Kirkland Signature Peanut Butter Cookies and the Reese’s Thins. If peanut butter isn’t your thing you may like the Tru Fru Frozen Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

They’re decent-sized slices of frozen banana!

Location in Store

I bought these in the freezer section at Costco in Kona, Hawaii. The item number is 1759973.

Taste

These aren’t as good as I’d hoped they’d be. They’re tasty for sure, just not amazing. They’re a circle one or two-bite-sized banana slice with a layer of peanut butter on the banana and then coated in chocolate.

Ready to eat!

The banana in the center is a bit soft and mushy but I think that’s how all bananas get when frozen, they obviously are using ripe bananas for the sweetness.

The outer layer of chocolate is fine but I feel like the banana pieces are too big and the ratio of banana to chocolate is off. What I find really disappointing is that the peanut butter flavor is pretty understated. I love the peanut butter in Reese’s and wish these had more peanut butter.

The banana slices are quite thick.

To me they taste more like a chocolate-covered banana slice with a hint of peanut butter but they don’t really taste much like Reese’s because there’s not enough peanut butter.

Cost

The 567-gram bag costs $9.99 USD, that’s not unreasonable but I wouldn’t say they’re cheap.

Milk chocolate, creamy peanut butter and sweet bananas.

Convenience

The frozen fruit banana slices need to be kept frozen and the best-before date is about 22 months from when we bought them! These are a nice refreshing snack or dessert.

These could handle a bit more peanut butter.

Everyone who tried them in our family thought they were pretty good and enjoyed them. My 20-month-old spit hers out after sucking off a bit of chocolate though.

Nutrition

Two pieces contain 90 calories, four and a half grams of fat, 15 milligrams of sodium, 10 grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fiber, eight grams of sugar and one gram of protein.

They’re not exactly low in calories but two slices are bigger than I thought they’d be and definitely curbs any cravings for sweets!

Ingredients

Bananas, chocolate and peanut butter baking chips are the three main ingredients. There are a few ingredients I don’t like seeing like hydrogenated vegetable oil, corn syrup solids, dextrose, and palm kernel oil. I never expect products like this to be healthy though.

The Reese’s frozen banana slices contain milk, soy, peanuts and tree nuts.

Overall

Give it a try!

These didn’t wow me enough to make me want to buy them again but I did enjoy the few that I tried. I just wish they had more of a peanut butter flavor.

  1. I have not tried these yet but have tried at my sisters frozen chocolate covered bananas and the recipe for them stated to eat frozen. It was meant to be just a treat item for when hot out from what she told me and they did refresh you when the weather was warm. Will be watching for these in our Costco to give a try
