Costco Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls Review

I’ve reviewed a ton of spring rolls and egg rolls from Costco over the years, including the Minh Pork Egg Rolls and Summ! Crispy Vegetable Spring Rolls. I like keeping spring rolls in the freezer to serve as a quick side dish or appetizer, so when I spotted these Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls in the Costco freezer section, I picked up a box to try. I was especially interested in the generous amount of vegetables listed in the filling. But how do they taste, and would I buy them again? Find out what I thought of these Costco vegetable spring rolls in the review below!

Location in Store

These spring rolls are located in the freezer section of Costco near the Ajinomoto Vegetable Yakisoba and the Bibigo Steamed Dumplings. The item number is 3337754.

Taste

The Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls from Costco are nice and crispy with a mild, pleasant flavor. The wrapper is a little on the thick side, so you mostly taste the crispy wrapper rather than the filling. The filling is a little light, likely because these spring rolls are on the smaller side, and while it has a slight sweetness, it doesn’t have a ton of flavor.

They’re salty without being overly salty, making them easy to enjoy without feeling too heavy. The dipping sauce is sweet with a very strong ginger flavor, but I found it a little overpowering compared to the mild spring rolls. Overall, the Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls are crispy, lightly seasoned, and tasty, especially if you prefer a milder spring roll.

Cost

The box contains one bag with 50 spring rolls along with six small sauce packets and costs $14.99 Canadian at Costco. I’ve seen these Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls on sale for as low as $11.99 Canadian, which is a pretty cheap price. Even at the regular price, I think you’re getting a reasonable amount of spring rolls for your money.

Convenience

There are two different ways to cook the Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls: you can either bake them in the oven or air fry them. I baked mine for the recommended 20 minutes, and they turned out golden brown and nice and crispy.

The Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls need to be kept frozen, and the best before date was well over a year from when I purchased them. These Costco spring rolls are great as a side dish, snack or appetizer, and I really like that the box includes sauce, so you don’t have to buy any separately.

Nutrition

Calories

Three Royal Asia Vegetable Spring Rolls with one tablespoon of sauce contain 165 calories, six grams of fat, 24 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, six grams of sugar, just over six grams of protein and 530 milligrams of sodium. The calorie count isn’t particularly high, but 530 milligrams of sodium is quite a lot for just three spring rolls with sauce. If you’re watching your sodium intake, that’s something to keep in mind.

Ingredients

The ingredient list isn’t super long, and I like that there are eight different kinds of vegetables in the filling. The only ingredients I don’t love seeing listed are vegetable oil and sugar. The spring rolls aren’t gluten-free or soy-free, but they are dairy-free and vegan.

Overall

Give it a try!

These are pretty tasty but I do prefer spring rolls with meat in them so I probably wouldn’t buy this particular kind again. I definitely recommend them for anyone who’s vegetarian or vegan.
