Costco Fontaine Sante Caramelized Onion Dip with Boursin Review

The new Fontaine Santé Caramelized Onion Dip from Costco is made with Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs cheese, known for its rich, savory flavor and creamy texture, with notes of garlic, chives, and parsley. I picked up this Costco dip to try with crackers and Kirkland Signature Corn Chip Dippers. Read my review below to find out how it tastes and whether I’d buy it again for the Christmas holiday season!

Location in Store

I found this in the refrigerated deli section near all the other dips like the Kirkland Signature Organic Guacamole and the Stonemill Kitchens Creamy Cranberry Jalapeno Dip. The item number is 1863120.

Taste

The Fontaine Santé Boursin Caramelized Onion Dip is a creamy, tangy dip with a strong onion flavour that makes it a good option for onion lovers. The caramelized onions add a little texture, although they’re soft rather than crunchy, blending nicely into the smooth and creamy base.

While it’s not the best onion dip I’ve ever tried, it’s still enjoyable and delivers plenty of savoury onion flavour. If you’re a fan of creamy onion dips and want something flavourful to serve with crackers, chips, or fresh vegetables, the Fontaine Santé Boursin Caramelized Onion Dip is worth considering.

Cost

The Fontaine Santé Caramelized Onion Dip with Boursin from Costco comes in a two-pack for $11.99 CAD. Each tub contains 400 grams, giving you 800 grams of dip in total. That’s not a bad deal for a dip made with Boursin, which isn’t exactly cheap!

Convenience

I was shocked when I got home and realized the best-before date was only about three days away! Usually, you have much longer to enjoy a product after purchasing it. This dip needs to be kept refrigerated, and I think you could potentially freeze it, although doing so may affect its texture and flavor. The dip pairs well with crackers, corn chips, and fresh, raw vegetables!

Calories

A two-tablespoon serving of Fontaine Santé Caramelized Onion Dip contains 100 calories, 9 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fibre, 2 grams of sugar, 1 gram of protein, and 150 milligrams of sodium. I like that the sodium, sugar, and carbohydrate content isn’t too high, but if you’re watching your calorie or fat intake, you’ll want to be mindful of your portion size.

Ingredients

The ingredient list isn’t overly long, and I like that it contains mostly ingredients you’d use to make a dip at home, with chicory root fibre being a bit of an exception. The Fontaine Santé Caramelized Onion Dip with Boursin from Costco contains milk and egg, is gluten-free, and may contain tree nuts.

Overall

Give it a try!

This isn’t my absolute favourite dip from Costco, that title probably goes to the La Terra Fina Queso Dip with Cheddar, but this one is still good! It’s worth picking up if you enjoy the flavour of caramelized onions and Boursin cheese.
