Today I’m reviewing the Kewpie Sesame Dressing from Costco! I’ve heard from a lot of people that this dressing is pretty tasty so I decided to buy a bottle and check it out for myself.

I don’t usually review a ton of dressing or marinades from Costco but I have reviewed a few fun products! I’ve reviewed the Costco Kirkland Signature Basil Pesto, the Chosen Foods Avocado Mayonnaise, Mayura Tikka Masala Sauce, Culinary Treasures Roasted Garlic & Chili Aioli and the Culinary Treasures Chipotle Aioli.

I found the this product in the aisle near the other sauces and condiments. The item number is 1134491.

Taste

The Kewpie Deep Roased Sesame Marinade & Dressing from Costco is wonderful it reminds me of the Japanese salad dressing you get at restaurants! It has a strong savory, nutty taste from the sesame and soy sauce and a hint of sweetness from the brown sugar. When you try the Kewpie sesame dressing you get a combination of slightly sweet, salty, tangy and roasted nutty flavors.

The consistency is on the thinner side which I like because that way I can easily mix my salad so that each vegetable and lettuce leaf is covered in deliciousness.

Convenience

Shake well before use and refrigerated after opening! The best before date is about 11 months from the date we purchased the dressing. You can use the dressing in salads or for raw vegetables, on wraps or sandwiches, as a dip for meat or you can even marinade any meat in this as well. The amount of ways you can use the sesame dressing are endless.

  2. I’m so happy I bought this!…great as a dip, a dressing or on rice etc etc..

But last night I put two chicken breasts in a bowl and pierde them with a short paring knife all over. Then pour some of this marinade onto them, tossing and coating them well before covering and putting into the fridge. Left for approximately 4 hrs, turning half way through. Afterwards onto direct heat of the BBQ, turning over half way and basting a bit more. Took off the BBQ at 160 degrees. The flavour was all the was through the chicken…As well as keeping it moist and tasty !

Simple and delicious ..BUT …now how low will it be available???

  4. I just bought 3 x 887mL bottles from a local Chinese-owned grocery store for $9.99 each, and I am soooooooo happy, I went looking for places online to tell the story! I did not know CostCo sometimes carried this too, and will tell my CostCo friends to be on the lookout.
For anyone who still cannot find it…it is worthwhile making it yourself, so delicious, search goja dressing online. Not many ingredients, and if you cook Japanese ever, you may already have them all.

    • For the record, Kewpie is a Japanese company and is particularly famous for its mayonnaise and this sesame dressing. Thus, it’s not surprising at all that you think it’s similar to Japanese restaurant dressing because it’s likely the exact same dressing being used, or another company’s take on it (there are quite a few, kinda like there’s a quite a few takes on ranch dressing here in NA). This stuff is a staple in homes and restaurants all through Japan.

  7. I absolutely love this dressing! The problem is that it is rarely available at our So Cal Costco’s these days. If you have any contacts there at Costco Corp, please, we are begging for this great dressing/marinade.

  8. Had this salad dressing recently at a friends this week. OMG!! The best dressing I’ve had in a very long time. Both my husband and I loved it. Rushed out to Costco and was very disappointed to find it nonexistent. Hoping Costco hasn’t discontinued this from their stock and it’s a supply chain issue. Thought this would also be an excellent marinade for fish. Fingers crossed…

  9. I bought this at my local Costco and now am upset because they no longer have it in stock. It is absolutely delicious and quite addictive. I am praying it will return to stock as a regular item.

  10. Thank you for all your reviews!! Sincerely I was able to find some great products for my mom who is kind of homebound now. This dressing looks perfect for sheet pan dinners. I got a good tip from someone about cutting up chicken breast: cut off the skinny end and then halve the fat end. 3 fairly equal pieces. Thank you so much for your reviews, appreciate them so much
