Costco Rana Cajun-Style Linguine with Chicken & Andouille Sausage Review

Over the years, I’ve reviewed quite a few Rana meals from Costco, including the Rana Beef & Short Rib Lasagna, Rana Chicken Fettuccine & Alfredo Sauce, and Rana Tagliatelle with Chicken & Mushroom Sauce. When I spotted the Rana Cajun-Style Linguine with Chicken & Andouille Sausage at Costco, I decided to give it a try because I’m a fan of andouille sausage. Was this refrigerated pasta meal worth buying? Read my Costco Rana Cajun-Style Linguine with Chicken & Andouille Sausage review to find out!

Location in Store

This is located in the refrigerated deli section of Costco near the Pulmuone Beef Japchae and the Stoney Creek Shaved Beef Au Jus. The item number is 2052176.

Taste

The Rana Cajun-Style Linguine with Chicken & Andouille Sausage has a mild to moderate amount of heat with a slightly smoky, sweet flavor that reminds me of roasted red peppers. The chicken is quite salty and has a somewhat processed taste, while the andouille sausage adds a bit of spice but isn’t especially flavorful. I also noticed the sausage had a slightly unusual taste, although it wasn’t unpleasant.

Overall, this Costco Rana pasta meal isn’t bad, but it isn’t particularly memorable either. The sauce is rich and a little heavy, and the entire dish leans on the salty side. If you enjoy mildly spicy, creamy pasta dishes, you may like it, but I don’t think it’s one I’d go out of my way to buy again.

Cost

The 1.13-kilogram Rana Cajun-Style Linguine with Chicken & Andouille Sausage costs $18.99 Canadian at Costco, which I think is a bit pricey. Considering the amount of pasta, chicken, and sausage you get, I don’t think it offers the best value. One package is enough to serve two hungry adults or a family of four with smaller appetites.

Convenience

I followed the package directions and microwaved the meal for eight minutes, and it turned out well. It was hot all the way through, and the pasta cooked nicely in the sauce, although the chicken dried out just a little.

The meal must be kept refrigerated, but I’m sure it could be frozen if you don’t plan to use it before the best-before date, which was about three weeks from when I purchased it. I recommend serving it with the Taylor Farms Ultimate Caesar Salad Kit and the Kirkland Signature Ciabatta Buns.

The sodium content is extremely high for just one cup, and realistically, most people will likely eat more than one cup as a meal, making the sodium add up quickly.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is fairly extensive, with a few ingredients I’m not a big fan of, including corn syrup solids, dextrose, and natural flavors. The meal contains egg, milk, and wheat, and may also contain lobster and shrimp.

Overall

Give it a try!

This isn’t the worst Rana meal I’ve tried from Costco, but it’s definitely not my favorite. There are other Rana pasta options available at Costco that I enjoy more. I wouldn’t say this Cajun-style linguine is bad tasting; it just isn’t especially memorable, and I probably wouldn’t buy it again. I found the spice level to be mild, but my parents thought it was too spicy for their tastes.
