Sweet & delicious Costco Maman strawberry jam from France!

Today I’m doing a quick review for the Costco Bonne Maman Strawberry Jam. I picked this up on a recent Costco run to go along with the Costco Vero Vero Sourdough Bread.

Other jams from Costco are the Kirkland Signature Organic Strawberry Spread, Costco Vonbee Honey, Citron & Ginger Tea Base and Jam, Costco Vonbee Honey, Apple & Cinnamon Tea Base and Jam and the Vonbee Passion Fruit & Honey Puree.

Location in Store

You can find this Maman jam in the aisle with the honey and other jams, near the Costco Kirkland Signature Peanut Butter. The item number is 1390535.

Taste

I enjoy this strawberry jam I do find it really sweet though! It doesn’t have any crunchy seeds in it and is more like a jelly-jam with a few hunks of strawberry. It has a strong strawberry flavor that reminds me a bit of those strawberry candies you get.

I’d like if the jam were a little less sweet but I still think it’s tasty. The jam pairs well with toast and butter as well as peanut butter!

Cost

I paid $8.99 Canadian for the 750 mL jar of jam which isn’t super expensive but definitely isn’t cheap.

Convenience

You need to refrigerate the jam after you open it and the best before date is well over a year from the date we purchased it.

You could use this jam in baking, to make PB & J sandwiches or have on toast. I think kids would really enjoy this jam on their morning toast!

Calories

One tablespoon of jam is 50 calories, zero grams of fat, 13 grams of carbohydrates, 13 grams of sugar and less than a gram of protein. The jam is not really high in calories but high in sugar! If you have diabetes be careful with jam as it can spike your blood sugar. As a nurse, when we have a patient who is hypoglycemic we often give them jam to raise their blood sugars.

  1. Fun fact, I never refrigerate commercial jam and have very rarely had any issues with it going moldy. Cold jam on toast is just wrong imho lol!
