Costco is carrying these new Donsuemor Lemon Zest Madeleines and I couldn’t resist picking them up to try and review. I’ve already reviewed the Donsuemor Traditional Madeleines over two years ago and I enjoyed those when I tried them.

If you’re wondering what other fun sweet items to try from Costco check out the reviews for the Dolce Mia Chocolate Dream Champagne Flutes, Dessert Italiano Tiramisu. Dessert Italiano Caramel Macchiato, Delici Artisan Bonbons, Delici Sea Salt Caramal Mousse and Delici Mini Patisserie Desserts.

I found the Donsuemor Lemon Zest Madeleines randomly in the middle of Costco, not in a particular aisle and they were actually not in the bakery section. The item number is 6008051.

Taste

Are you a lemon fan? If you love anything lemon flavored like I do, I highly suggest trying these Donsuemor Lemon Zest Madeleines from Costco. The madeleines are very simple but extremely delicious! Sometimes the more simple a dessert is, the better it tastes.

A madeleine is a small sponge cake shaped like a seashell. These Costco madeleines are moist, soft, slightly dense but still light and fluffy. There’s a strong lemon flavor that’s not too strong or overpowering but definitely lemony, which I love.

The madeleines aren’t very sweet or heavy and are a perfect light sweet snack to have with a cup of tea or coffee or for dessert after lunch or supper.

Cost

I paid $8.99 Canadian for the 793 gram container, there are 28 madeleines in a container.

Convenience

The madelines come in a plastic resealable tub and each madeleine is individually wrapped so you can stuff a few in your purse, pop some in your lunch bag, store a few in your car or bring them to work to share with others. They also freeze really well!

You can make a lot of different desserts with the madeleines as well! I whipped up some cream, broke up a madeleine and layered a dessert glass with the madeleine, whipped cream and berries to make a fun and fancy looking dessert!

You could make a large trifle with the madeleines, use them to make a homemade ice cream cake, serve them with yogurt or make a strawberry shortcake with them.

The best before date is about a month from the date I purchased the Costco Donsuemor Lemon Zest Madeleines.

Nutrition

One madeline is 120 calories, six grams of fat, 15 grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, 10 grams of sugar, one gram of protein and 60 mg of sodium. I really like that the madeleines aren’t full of a ton of sugar, calories or fat if you have just one.

These obviously aren’t healthy for you and the ingredients has sugar as the first ingredient but the other ingredients listed are actually pretty simple, basic ingredients without a whole bunch of chemicals and preservatives, which I really appreciate.
